In 2024, we took a significant step forward in enhancing the racing experience at Hamilton Karting Complex by installing the Pixelcom Digital Marshalling System. As one of only two ASN-certified tracks in Ontario, we are always committed to offering the highest quality and safest racing environment, and investing in this cutting-edge technology was a natural progression.

Real-Time Flagging for Enhanced Safety

Safety is the number one priority in motorsports, and the Pixelcom Digital Marshalling System allows us to instantly communicate track conditions to drivers. With a simple click of a button, our race director can control flag signals displayed at every corner of the track, ensuring drivers are alerted to any changes or hazards without delay. This is especially important for red flags, which can now be immediately communicated to all drivers, significantly improving reaction times and overall safety.

In traditional setups, relying solely on physical corner marshals can result in delays, especially on a track as large as ours, where staffing every corner isn’t always possible. Our new digital system guarantees that drivers receive crucial information the moment it’s available—no waiting until they pass a marshal to see a flag. This allows racers to make faster decisions, avoiding accidents and enhancing the safety of every race.

Strategic Racing with Lap Countdown Displays

Another feature we’re proud of is the lap countdown system at the start/finish line. In the past, drivers had to wait for the last lap board to gauge how much time they had left in a race. Some drivers used data loggers such as a Mychron or Unigo systems to track their progress, but not everyone had access to these tools, and they’re not always reliable. Now, with the lap count displayed for everyone, racers can see exactly how many laps remain, leading to more informed, strategic racing.

We’ve already noticed that this feature has impacted how racers approach the final laps. Knowing they only have a few more laps to defend their position or make a move has brought about more tactical and thrilling races. It’s another way this system enhances both the competitiveness and safety of our track.
