HRKC Race 2 Recap – Strong Turnout, Strong Racing

Hamilton Regional Karting Club (HRKC) Race 2 delivered another excellent day of club racing at Hamilton Karting Complex. With 135 registered drivers, turnout was slightly down from the season opener—but still an outstanding number for a club event. The continued support from our members has been incredible, and it’s showing on track with the level of competition across every class.

We were fortunate once again with the weather. Rain threatened late in the day, but we managed to complete all race sessions before it arrived. While the podium celebrations got a bit wet, the most important part was getting a full day of clean racing in the books.

We now take a short break before returning on May 24th for the next HRKC event, which will run on the National Layout (Layout #1). This race is expected to be one of the busiest of the season, coming just one week before RMC Ontario—making it a key prep race for many Rotax competitors. Be sure to get some practice laps in ahead of time.

For those looking to keep racing over the next couple of weeks, we encourage you to support our friends at Goodwood Kartways. This week features KartStars, followed by the Ontario Inter-Club Challenge next week—an event that counts toward HRKC points. Prime Powerteam will be on-site to assist with parts, setup, and mechanical support. Inter-Club is always a great event, and we hope to see strong HRKC representation there from our Briggs Drivers.

Race Highlights

Briggs Senior

Once again the largest class of the day, Briggs Senior required both B and A Finals. Ekam Power took the win in the B Final, advancing to the A final along with the rest of the top 5 from the B final.

Jaden Hundal and Logan Pacza were the class of the field on this day, Hundal set pole in qualifying and the broke away early in the final, building a gap of over four seconds to the rest of the field. In the end, Logan Pacza held on for the win, with Hundal in second. Sam Gow continued his strong start to the season, rounding out the podium with his second top-three finish of the year.

Briggs Cadet

Matteo Romeo set the pace early with pole in qualifying, but it was Blaine Donovan who came through to take the win in the final. Romeo finished second, with Koah Dozet completing the podium. The Cadet group continues to show strong development and improving racecraft every time they hit the track.

Rotax Junior

A slightly smaller field than Race 1, but still highly competitive. Stefano Lanzillotta dominated the day, sweeping sessions and taking the win by a comfortable margin. Lincoln Lima and Carlo Lott completed the podium in second and third.

Briggs Junior Lite

A great class of 13 drivers, many of whom are rookies or stepping into full-size karts for the first time. The battle at the front was once again between Tyler Del Bel Belluz and Oliver Gonsalves. Tyler edged it at the line, winning by just a tenth of a second. Rookie Sachin Stanly impressed with a strong P3 finish.

Briggs Masters

Matthew Radelli had a standout day, setting the pace and taking the win in the final. Jackson Matum followed closely in second, with Joseph Mezin securing his second podium of the season in third. Patrick Lelièvre unfortunately suffered a DNF while running near the front due to a mechanical issue, but his pace so far this season shows he’ll be back in contention soon.

Rotax Senior Max

Ryan Maxwell continued his strong form, setting pole and taking the win. Ari Theodoropoulos delivered an impressive drive, working forward through the field to finish just 1.5 seconds back in second. Jaden Hundal rounded out the podium after fighting through the field following a pre-final penalty, also setting the fastest lap of the race. Rotax Senior Max continues to be one of the most exciting classes to watch.

Rotax Mini Max

One of the races of the day. Nate Stockwell looked in control early, leading through qualifying and the pre-final. However, Tyler Del Bel Belluz had the pace in the final and steadily closed the gap. The two battled hard in the closing laps, with Tyler making a last-corner pass to take the win by just 0.061 seconds. A fantastic finish.

Briggs Junior

A standout moment in qualifying saw rookie Lucca Sisera take pole, though rookie rules required him to start from the back. With those restrictions lifting next race, he’ll be one to watch. Fellow rookie Ayaan Syed also impressed with a P6 finish.

At the front, it was another great battle between Andrew Adams and Cody Shaw. This time, Shaw came out on top, taking the win. Late-race moves from Melville Dos Santos and Ethan Belknap secured them the remaining podium spots. Briggs Junior continues to deliver close, clean racing.

Looking Ahead

Thank you to everyone who came out and made Race 2 another success. The energy, competition, and sportsmanship across all classes have been fantastic to see.

We hope to see many of our drivers competing at Inter-Club over the next couple of weeks, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for HRKC Race 3 on May 24th. Keep an eye out for practice availability as we switch to the National Layout and get up to speed.

See you at the track.
